The funny thing about this pop-up is that once you hit “Okay” nothing happens. It requires my attention, and it’s taking big steps to let me know this- but after I acknowledge it it just disappears back into silence, waiting. How passive.

Creepy. Reminds me of how browsers store your past searches and show you ads for those same searched products much later, even after you’ve closed and re-opened browsers. Privacy concerns ahead?

To myself, anyway. I successfully removed two icons on this Tumblr blog that my co-worker wanted removed. Success!

If I could upload audio files I’d also include the sound of mice gnawing away at something in my closet now as I type on my bed in the dark. That attitude is essentially Bed-Sty, in a way; that kind of acknowledgement of how things are while at the same time using “That’s how things are” as a cement wall to why they don’t change.

Sometimes living in New York City makes me feel like I’ve gone back in time. I live in a segregated neighborhood of mostly African-Americans while I commute to and work in an all White-American environment. Trash, dirt and rats litter the subway stations. Trains often break down or have to be rerouted for construction while the stations themselves are not even handicap accessible but resemble more the underground crypts the saints had back in ancient Rome. There’s a pride in this modern squalor, here, and I still don’t fully understand why. Maybe taking pride in a bad situation is what you do when you feel like there’s no other option.

Nothing comes close… the Golden Coast. Still has a nice ring I suppose.

I wonder what psychological research has been done on this; I know plenty has been done on starting from scratch and the challenges of having to be perfect when just starting. But how much of that psychological research has caught up to 2011 and talked about the implications with technology and our online experiences?
